![]() Marmorino in Italian translates literally to mean "Little Marble.", and for good reason. Most plasters are made with one part binder(slaked lime) and three parts aggregate(usually sand or other similar materials). Marmorino's aggregate however, is crushed marble. What does this mean to you? First, you get a finish that has been used throughout two thousand years of European history. Second, you get a finish with a process that has been refined through the years. Your getting the best plaster possible. Third, once Marmorino dries on your wall, you get an elegant satin finish that is cool to the touch and extremely stable, breathable and durable. You get a layer of artificial marble stone at a fraction of what real marble would cost. And lastly, this finish looks great in any room in the house, and is available in 1275 non-toxic, non-allergenic colors and it will last forever.
![]() Strange Marmorino is a slight variation of Marmorino. Texture or Interest is added with a troweling technique, then Calcenova is applied rather than Marmorino. ![]() Close your eyes for just a moment and whisk yourself back twenty two hundred years to Pons Aemilius, the first stone bridge of Rome. Now move forward a couple of hundred years to Rome's first Pantheon, also built of stone. The Coliseum, Bernini's St. Peter's Colonnade and sculpture Fontana del Tritone were all built of stone. All through the centuries, the stone of choice for Romans has been Travertine. Travertine is a very strong sedimentary limestone that has been quarried, throughout time, in the modern town of Tivoli, near Rome. It is a whitish, yellowish or reddish limestone that typically has small streaks, crevices and holes, which makes it interesting aesthetically. It is a stone that when polished making it an extremely good stone for sculptures. Bernini, Michelangelo's rival when it came to sculpting, made the Four Rivers fountain in the Piazza Navona, in Rome, out of Travertine. Now close your eyes again for just a second and visualize travertine block on your walls. You now have that opportunity with Safra's Travertino limestone product.
